According to recent research, funding their retirement remains the biggest worry for many UK employees. The second biggest worry is not being able to cope financially with a job loss. The research, conducted among 2,000 UK employees, also found that one in five of those questioned admitted to worrying daily about their financial health. Only 19% said that they didn’t worry at all. For many, finances really are the stuff of nightmares!
Our Chairman, Brian Morman, has been working in financial services for ‘more years than (he) care(s) to remember!’ During that time, he has met with people from all walks of life. Whether of modest means, or millionaires, he has found the same two fears uppermost in their minds:
- Will I stay healthy? and
- Will my money last?
Which are essentially the same as those identified in the research above.
In his book, Your Bigger Future, Brian argues that in order to address these fears, there are three principal eventualities for which everyone must plan:
- Becoming sick or getting injured
- Dying prematurely
- Living to a ripe old age
In so doing, Brian argues that we will effectively have laid the foundations for a successful lifetime financial strategy.
