Every month we like to shine a spotlight on a different Brunsdon Financial team member. This month, we’re getting to know Laura Martin.
What is your role at Brunsdon Financial?
I am an Adviser Support Administrator.
How did you come to your role?
I have worked in the Financial Services sector since I was 18 and really enjoy it. Before moving to Brunsdon Financial I worked for a bank as a cashier and also on the operational side. I decided that I wanted to move to a different side of Financial Services.
When the opportunity for my current role came up around two years ago, I saw it as a new challenge and had to apply.
What do you like most about your role?
I love that there’s never a dull day. It’s a different workload every day and I must admit, my team is the best so that helps a lot!
If you could wave a magic wand to achieve anything you wanted at work, what would it be?
It would be to have a pyjama day once a month in the office. For someone who spends 95% of her life in them, it would be pretty cool to be able to wear them to the office once in a while. Great for extra warmth too, as I am always cold!
What experience/s have you had which have helped you in your career to date?
I worked on the investments side of financial services for a short amount of time and that helped me build a good level of base knowledge in this area of the financial world.
What has been your most exciting career moment/favourite career achievement so far?
Being where I am now. Brunsdon Financial is truly a great place to work and I am pleased I fit into the Brunsdon pack!
Who are your role models?
My dad is a huge role model for me. He’s worked hard all his life and is the strongest person I know. He is my rock who always supported me and my decisions.
Can you tell us an interesting fact about you?
I’m not too sure if this counts as interesting but one of my hobbies is Aerial Hoop. I think I’m nearly ready to join the circus!
Outside of work, what do you like to do?
I enjoy going to the gym and throughout lockdown I really got into home workouts. I have two dogs, so I also love walking with them.
How would you like to be remembered, a) by your friends and family and b) by your Brunsdon Financial colleagues and clients?
A) As the one that tries to be funny but really isn’t. Also as being caring, bubbly and a shoulder to lean on.
B) As the one that is helpful, determined, can be given anything to do and will just crack on with it.
