Employee Spotlight – Meet Julie Treherne

Every month we like to shine a spotlight on a different Brunsdon Financial team member. This month, we are chatting to Julie Treherne, a self-confessed troubleshooter who gives us an insight into her varied job role.

What is your role at Brunsdon Financial?

I am an operations Manager.

How did you come to your role?

I had been in a similar role for another company and an ex-colleague recommended me to Brunsdon and they approached me to join them – over 12 years ago now! Wow, time flies! 😊

What do you like most about your role?

It is very varied! One minute I could be organising the cleaning of the office and the next I could be training someone how to move thousands of pounds from one place to another (virtually!) I also really like the people that I work with – they are a wonderful team.

If you could wave a magic wand to achieve anything you wanted at work, what would it be?

I am always busy so I think it would be amazing to be able to have a couple of extra hours in each day!

What advice would you give someone starting out in business now?

If I were advising someone coming in to do my role, then I would say do not lose your passion for what you do. If you feel it slipping away, then make some changes to get it back again! Life is just too short to be working at something you do not enjoy!

What is the best piece of business-related advice you were ever given?

‘Your biggest asset in any business is the people. Get the right bums on the right seats and look after them’

If you could, what would you tell your 21-year-old self?

Do not forget to stop and listen and do not forget to get your work/ home/ family balance right. It is not easy but will make life so much easier when you nail it.

Who are your business heroes?

Not really business as such but I was in awe of Professor Sarah Gilbert who developed the Oxford Covid vaccine and has risen to the top of her field. I really like listening to Michelle Hoskins speak from Standards International. She always has new and refreshing ideas.

Outside of work, what do you like to do?

I live on the family farm, and whilst we rent most of the land out now, there is still plenty to do! I also love to dance, attend a fitness class at least once a week, and am an avid reader and always have 2 or 3 books on the go at any one time.

How would you like to be remembered – a) by your friends and family and b) by your Brunsdon Financial clients.

A) I would like to be remembered by my family and friends as being loyal, honest, and easy to speak to.

B) Same as above really, but also as someone who will always do what she says she is going to do. A problem solver.
