Employee Spotlight – Meet Sam Chaffe

Employee Spotlight - Sam Chaffe

Every month we will be featuring a different Brunsdon Financial team member. This month it’s the turn of Samantha Chaffe, Employee Benefits Administrator.

What is your role at Brunsdon Financial?

My role is Employee Benefits Administrator.

How did you come to your role?

I have been with the company for about a month. Moving jobs at any time can be daunting, not least in a pandemic. But joining Brunsdon Financial has been a great decision; although I come from a finance background, this particular area is new to me, so it was the appeal of a new challenge that drove me to apply for the role. I feel very fortunate to have been selected.

What do you like most about your role?

That it’s different every day. Each day I’m learning something new and I’m enjoying working closely with my Brunsdon Financial consultant, whilst getting to know everyone else in the team, too.

If you could wave a magic wand to achieve anything you wanted at work, what would it be?

To pass all of my exams that I plan to take. And for certain tasks to be streamlined and magically completed instantly!

How long have you worked in the finance industry and what advice would you give to someone just starting out in the field?

I’ve worked in the finance industry for about 10 years. All opportunities provide experience and my advice would be to take each one that comes your way, even if you feel it is out of your comfort zone.

What experiences have you had which have helped you in your career to date?

In 2016 I had the chance to live in Arizona for half a year working with underprivileged children, and those with learning difficulties. It provided me with invaluable life experience; I learnt how to communicate with various groups of people and to be independent in a new environment.

What has been your most exciting career moment to date?

In a previous role I received a phone call regarding a £1million cheque that was to be hand delivered to a provider. I was responsible for ensuring this was handled and invested correctly following a house sale. Although a big task, it was certainly very exciting to be involved with personally.

Can you tell us an interesting fact about you?

I am a second dan black belt in karate and kickboxing.

Outside of work, what do you like to do?

I love to spend time with my friends and family. I also have a passion for live music and travelling.

How would you like to be remembered, a) by your friends and family and b) by your Brunsdon Financial colleagues and clients?

I’d like to be remembered by both as a person who always helps others, and who sees the positives in life. We only have one life and I aim to live it as well as I can.
